  • Of Pictures & Places

Greetings! Wow, life sure has been interesting the last while. So, where do I start? Let's see. I guess the first thing would be the photo shoot that Justin and I made to Duluth a while back. We left at about 4:30 one Saturday morning to shoot the sunrise over Lake Superior.

The second thing would be the snow storms that we got. We got snow both of the first two weekends in April, but because I wasn't home for the second one I won't say much about it. The first one though was quite the deal. It was one of the best blizzards that I ever remember. Okay so maybe the first of April isn't the best time to get a huge snow storm but it was pretty cool nonetheless. We got about 18-20 inches at our place but we're in the open where the wind can blow it all away. People that live back in the woods where the wind wasn't so strong had close to 30 inches. It started snowing Saturday night and was pretty much done by Monday morning. So what do you do when you're "snowed in"? Well what else but get "un-snowed in" and go take pictures. Sunday morning church was canceled so Justin and I went out to capture the snow.

Thirdly I left to go to SMBI for 5th term. I was going to leave Friday morning but they were again forcasting a bunch of snow so I left Thursday afternoon and drove through most of the night till I got to Indiana where I stayed with my Grandparents. I did run into some of the snow, but mostly I just drove through rain. Because of the storm there were some pretty big waves on Lake Superior, so on my way through Duluth I stopped and took some pictures.

Now I'm here at SMBI and we just finnished the first week. I'm still trying to get used to this whole thing of being dean. It's definately a different experience. Trying to stay ahead of all the logistical things can be a challenge. I'm taking a class and a half this term, Christian Morality and Gospel & Culture. So far both have been really good. Well anyway the other night I was feeling a little stressed and overwhelmed, so I drove up the mountain and went exploring. I drove back this little dirt road that was more of a ATV trail than a road but I went for a ways and then stopped and went hiking down this trail. Here's just a few photos from then and around school.

My Life in the Near Future...

Well in my last post I promised an update on what I'm going to be doing in the future. For starters I'm going back to SMBI for 5th term. This will be new and different for several reasons. First of all I've never been to SMBI for 5th term and second I'm going as men's dean. I'm looking forward to it but I'm also a bit nervous. It'll be a lot of responsibility.

The second thing happening is that as soon as I get back from 5th term I am planning to move north to Dryden under NYP for a couple years. I'll be working in the office at Headquarters.

So between going to SMBI and getting ready to move up to the mission it looks like a busy spring. I'd appreciate your prayers as I undertake the responsibility of being dean and also as I get ready to move. It'll be a lot a adjustments. I know this was fairly short and un-detailed so feel free to email or call me if you want to know more.

  • Some Pictures

Yeah, I know it's been a really long time since I updated. Life has been really busy and a lot of new things look like their headed my way. But that will have to wait for another post. If you want to know sooner give me a call Anyway in the meantime, here are some pictures that I've taken recently. (Actually the first two are a couple months old but the others are fairly recent.) These were all taken in the field right by our place.

  • My Weekend

Sorry about the lame title. Was about all I could come up with. Well, I don't really have much to say. This past weekend I flew out to Pennsylvania for Night of Music and then drove to Delaware for De's wedding. It was a sweet weekend. The only dark spots in an otherwise great weekend was first of all seeing more people that I could hang out with or even talk to, and the second was getting the flu. I felt it coming on Sunday afternoon and by evening I was in bed. The worst part was having to fly home the next day. Wouldn't have been so bad except I had to sit at Dulles for 4-5 hours waiting to take off. I finally made it home about 1:00 am Tuesday morning, but I've been sick the rest of the week. Haven't gone to work at all this week.

Okay, I'm done complaining now. Besides all that it really was a great time. Got to hang out with some people at least. Sorry to those of you that I barely talked to. De's wedding was real nice, and hats off to Dawson for being such a great Master of Ceremonies at the reception. It was great.

Night of Music was really good as well. They have a really great theme, and Jason did an awesome job of making it meaningful. The Grand Finale was also a highlight. Nothing quite like singing with rather large group of people like that. Oh, and having Urie direct the final song and then give us the Urie wave was really cool.

Speaking of Urie, we were able to finally get him his copy of our Asia book. Took us over a year to get it to him but we got it done. Twas sweet.
